Pandemonium

The crow is barking, as the dog caws incessantly.
It’s four in the morning, and I’m wide awake, contemplating .

Soon, the cat will crow, at the break of dawn.
The rooster purrs on the lawn.

An alligator licks it’s paws,
while the wicked rabbit runs around, breaking jaws.

The horse is lazy,
Meeting a lion round the corner is easy,
and in the desert, on the sand dunes, the fish go crazy.

What dystopia have I found myself in!? Or did the animals just get really good grass?
Oh but it wouldn’t be such a sin,
if we humans do this without looking crass!

Will someone tell the crow that it is supposed to caw?
Will someone tell the artist that he shouldn’t be pursuing law?

Will someone bring order to this world,
where children choose careers like lambs on a path – misguided by the assurances of a better life, and following others who might themselves be clueless?
Or should we all just forsake our instincts, and take the conventional route, of the quintessential test – case?
-Mechanical, monotonous and barely correct.

I see a lot of young people opting for mainstream courses, just because everyone else is doing it, irrespective of their interests and aptitude.
To all the kids who just collected their CBSE or HSC results, and their loved ones- Before you make any life-altering decisions, sit back, relax, and think about who you are and what you are meant to be, once.
